So for those that don’t know, just over 50 percent of Fiji’s population is now of Indian descent. As part of their, predominantly Hindu, culture they celebrate Diwali every year.
Marked by the darkest night of the year, Diwali is the festival of light, which celebrates life. The festival has interesting timing this year as it officially falls on the day before Halloween, the festival of the dead.
These are photos of my house. My landlord is apparently famous for his lights, which he puts more time into for Diwali than Christmas. He tells me they are half finished, with more to add tomorrow.
